The Wig Fairy

When I first found out I would be having chemotherapy and losing my hair, I was determined to get a wig that looked like my own hair. My hair was my favorite thing about myself and I was devastated I would be losing it. Oddly enough I wasn't nearly as affected by the thoughts of losing my breasts, but my hair was a major source of stress. Looking back I think I was so obsessed over my hair because I couldn't control cancer but I could control looking for a wig and preparing for my hair to fall.
I did a lot of research about wigs and decided I wanted a human hair wig so it could be colored and cut to match my hair. I discovered The Wig Fairy in Beverly Hills, California through another breast cancer patient who was several months ahead of me in treatment and she looked wonderful. I asked about her wigs and she told me about Mona Zargar at The Wig Fairy. I made a quick trip over to the Wig Fairy the day before I had the procedure to install my chemo port and they hooked me up! The ladies had set aside a wig they thought would work for me and when I arrived they got started customizing it for me. They were so wonderful to me, they made a stressful situation fun for me.
Human hair wigs are much more expensive than synthetic, so I wasn't sure about spending the money but they are definitely worth the money. Thanks to the generosity of my husband I was able to make it happen. Since then they have actually started a charity to help women who live in California who are suffering from hair loss due to cancer or alopecia and can't afford to purchase a wig. www.TheBraveProgram.org is a wonderful organization that helps women feel like themselves during hair loss.
